Welcome to Step Up!

Step Up is six level, story-based course for young children who are new to English and the Roman alphabet. Children will share the lives of twins Polly and Jack, their little sister Betty, and their friends in Saudi Arabia - Abdullah, his brother Sami and their sister Layla. The main objectives of the course are:

  • to develop an eagerness to learn, using material which is fun, challenging and appropriate.
  • to provide children with some useful basic vocabulary, structures, and functions of English which will enable them to communicate on a simple level.

Step Up Class book and Activity book and MultiROM

Step Up Class Book and Activity Book and MultiROM

There are five units in the book, each consisting of six lessons ranging from presentation to practice. For each lesson, there is one page in the Class Book, and two-pages of write-in practice activities in the Activity Book at the back of the book.

At the end of each unit there is a self-assessment quiz in the Activity Book in which the children can assess their own progress.

The MultiROM contains computer-based interactive activities which practise the vocabulary, phonics, and structures from each unit. These can be used by students working at their own pace at home, or in class.

The Teacher’s Book contains comprehensive teaching notes for each lesson, including reduced pages from the Class Book and Activity Book, to make lesson planning easier. For each lesson there is a statement of the general aim of the lesson and a summary of the new language to be covered.

The Teacher’s Resource CD contains five print-ready unit tests and an end-of-term test, as well as a bank of photocopiable resources for the teacher to use in class.

The two CDs provide recorded material of all the dialogues, stories, chants and sounds in the Step Up Class Book.

Step Up iTools

iTools is a DVD-ROM which contains digital class resources. It can be used either on an Interactive whiteboard (IWB) or on a projector. The Class Book pages can be viewed on screen and are synchronized with their corresponding pages in the Activity Book so that you can move easily between them. The interactive audio player also appears on screen.

Step up iTools provides the teacher with an opportunity to enhance their lessons at the presentation and review stages helping to focus students' attention and develop and interactive atmosphere within class.

Welcome to Look Up!

Look Up is six level English course written specifically for young teenagers.

Look Up is designed to make English lessons fun and easy to teach with a story-based approach suitable for use with large school classes. The dynamic story lines, told through a wide variety of text types such as e-mails, leaflets as well as traditional dialogues, explore the students’ own reality, reflecting their own experiences and concerns.

Students who start Look Up with little previous knowledge of English can expect a sound grasp of the four skills by the end of the course.

Each Student’s Book contains twelve units organized into three cohesive stories. Each unit has four pages and can be divided into three lessons.

The workbook contains twelve two-page units of additional vocabulary and grammar exercises for each Student's Book unit. There are also six four-page Skills Practice units in the Student’s Book, one after every two units.

The MultiROM contains computer-based interactive practice of the grammar and vocabulary of each unit of the Student’s Book. These can be used by students working at their own pace at home, or in class.

Aim High has a very clear unit structure, which has been designed to enable teachers to take students from input (reading) to output (writing).
